Matt Williams, Executive Director

Matt Williams is the Executive Director of Moriah Counseling and Consulting, LLC and is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with the State of Ohio. He is also a certified clinical supervisor.   He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Anderson University in Christian Education and his Master of Arts Degree from Ashland Theological Seminary in Clinical Counseling. He is currently working on his Doctorate in Ministry with Liberty University.  He is the Lead Pastor of Barberton Church of God, Barberton, Ohio.  He serves as an Adjunct professor of Bible and Psychology for Indiana Wesleyan University and as an Adjunct Professor of Psychology, Sociology, and Pastoral Counseling for Grace College and Seminary at their Bath Ohio Extension.

 

He has over 33 years of experience in counseling, crisis intervention, hospice and pastoral ministry. He has also served as the Clinical and Spiritual Director for Cornerstone of Hope, Ohio's largest grief counseling agency.  In the past he has worked for churches, funeral homes, hospices, an-inner-city mental health agency and has even served as a high school guidance counselor and school administrator.

 

Matt has trained hundreds of professionals and non-professionals and is a frequent speaker and presenter to various organizations around the country doing seminars/presentations for groups of all kinds on various topics; including grief, stress management, supervision, counseling ethics, counselor education/training, marriage building and other topics. He has been the keynote speaker or presenter for organizations like:

 

  • Metro Health Burn Unit’s Annual Retreat
  • Trainer for Coventry Health Care, Kansas City, Kansas
  • Odyssey Hospice Memorial Service   
  • Cleveland Clinic’s Wound Center Recognition Banquet
  • National Alliance for Grieving Children’s Annual National Symposium
  • Holy Family Hospice Memorial Services
  • Kiwanis Clubs in Strongsville, Brecksville and North Royalton
  • And many churches and other organizations

 

In his career, He has trained and supervised over 60 graduate students, helping them advance their careers in the mental health field. He also trains pastors for their work in ministry.

 

He has appeared on television and was the host of “Grief Talk,” a weekly radio call-in talk show in Cleveland, Ohio. He is called upon to be a guest lecturer at local colleges and universities like John Carroll University, Cleveland State University, and Baldwin-Wallace College. He also enjoys assisting churches in developing care ministries within their church and helping them in their on-going ministry training needs. Matt has written several articles for various publications.

 

Personally, Matt has been married for 30 years, to his beautiful wife, Sheri, a high school teacher. They have four wonderful children, Mackenzie, Maelei, Matthew and Montgomarie and one dog, Charlie.
